D2 Technologies 2010: A Year in Mobile Unified Communications

D2 Technologies, provider of IP communications and other mobile unified communications, have a lot to be proud of for its accomplishments in 2010.

In January 2010, setting off the new year, D2 Technologies (News - Alert) and Opulan Technologies announced the joint launch of a new product to help OEMs quickly deliver advanced EPON Integrated Access and residential gateways ultra-high-speed Internet access with optimized carrier-grade VoIP functionality.The OPL-06752is an EPON chipset compliant with TR-101/TR-156, powered by a 233MHz 32bit MIPS4KEC CPU core.


In March, D2, and GCT Semiconductor, a supplier of WiMAX solutions teamed upto deliver VoIP over WiMAX (News - Alert) for mobile devices based on the Android and Linux operating systems.

The following month in April, D2announcedits membership in the eNsemble Multi-Core Alliance. The organization offers an open programming model for a wide array of market-leading multi-core, multi-threaded processors greater access and tighter coupling between networking software and the XLR, XLS and XLP multi-core processors.

In June of this year, the mCUE product line fromD2 Technologies it supports the Skype’s SkypeKit SDK. With the help of mCUE, OEMs and ODMs can quickly and inexpensively release Android OS-based devices to market.announced.

In JulyD2 TechnologiesD2’s  vPort Gateway embedded VoIP software on TrendChip’s TC3182 ADSL2+ processor. The combined solution allows OEMs/ODMs to quickly deliver advanced ADSL2+ Integrated Access Devices that offer high-performance ADSL2+ and 802.11n with optimized carrier-grade VoIP functionality, according to D2. and TrendChip Technologies introduced.

In October of 2010, COO of D2 Technologies, Doug Makishima (News - Alert) moderatedand participated in “4G Devices: Perspective from the Operator, Device Manufacturer and Component Vendor” at 4G Wireless Evolution, held in conjunction with ITEXPO West 2010 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The presentation by Makishima, addressed how the industry is responding to the new opportunities presented by the many features and capabilities of 4G devices, as well as how the addition of WiMAX and LTE (News - Alert) networks affects the component marketplace.

Most recently D2 made significant enhancements to its mCUE® converged communications client. Along with its application for Android (News - Alert) mobile handsets, the improved mCUE reference designs support 4G IMS, SIP and popular social networks for a wide range of Android devices including smartphones, tablets, IP media phones and connected TVs/STBs.
