With every mobile device becoming a potential point of entry for attack or point of information leak, mobile security management has become more crucial than ever before.
To support secure mobility in enterprises, Armor5, a provider of enterprise mobile security solutions for bring your own device (BYOD) scenarios, has launched a new mobile security management service called Armor5 CloudSpace.
Armor5 CloudSpace is what the company describes as the world’s first 'Zero Touch' mobile security service, virtualizing corporate data, apps and content on end-users’ mobile devices with zero installation, integration or configuration required.
The mobile security management solution never lets any sensitive and confidential corporate information reside on a user’s device, thereby eliminating the risk of data leakage or mobile policy violations.
Armor5 CloudSpace connects to a company's existing virtual private network (VPN), and then virtualizes intranet and cloud applications, providing immediate access via a secure URL that any mobile worker can safely use from any device.
Hosted via the cloud, the solution does not require client or server to install. Armor5 also delivers automatic Web virtualization via a simple, dedicated URL.
"Every mobile device is a potential attack point-of-entry or point-of-data-loss," said Suresh Balasubramanian, CEO of Armor5, in a statement. "The mobile workforce is demanding better mobile productivity and collaboration, but IT won't risk security, compliance or privacy breaches.”
According to Balasubramanian, Armor5 addresses mobile security management challenges in enterprises by offering a “perfect balance between IT control and user flexibility – minus the management expense and time-consuming technical requirements of individual device management."
A recent study conducted by Osterman Research has found that over half of participants (54 percent) believe that their management of lost devices is not sufficient to address the seriousness of the problem.
Michael Osterman, president of Osterman Researc, says Armor5 gives users complete BYOD freedom with access to all their corporate apps and data – not just e-mail, while completely eliminating data leakage on mobile devices.
Since no data resides on devices, data loss is eliminated. Armor5 works on a variety of devices including smartphones, tablets and laptops; on any browser and any network. Users can access all their apps and content without being required to first download any software. All data flows can be audited with support for HIPPA, FINRA and FISMA compliance.
