Proliferation of mobile devices across enterprises has created a plethora of challenges to organizations, with mobile security management and device management the toughest among them.
To address these challenges, BMC Software (News - Alert), a provider of business service management and IT management solutions, in pact with mobile security management solution provider AirWatch (News - Alert), announced the launch of a new mobile device management solution.
BMC Mobile Device Management solution powered by AirWatch is designed to bridge the gap between mobile device and the mobile user. The solution incorporates applications and content alongside a balanced approach to corporate and employee owned solutions.
“It's dangerously shortsighted for organizations to focus solely on device management without considering the implications that mobile content and applications have on the business," said Kia Behnia, BMC chief technology officer, in a statement. "It is like trying to construct a building without understanding what it will be used for."
BMC Mobile Device Management solution powered by AirWatch combines AirWatch technology with the strength of BMC’s industry-leading Business Service Management solutions. Thanks to the mobile device, application and content management capabilities offered by AirWatch, the solution offers complete mobility for the business user.
The new mobile device management solution for offers new mobility apps for IT management that help businesses bring the power of the industry-leading BMC Remedy IT Service Management Suite to mobile workers. The new apps monitor unscheduled IT outages and resolve and restore impacted revenue streams up to 30 percent faster than with desktop or browser-based applications.
"Mobility is no longer a trend. It's the new reality for companies, their IT organizations, their employees and their customers. We are working with customers to embrace a world where the device is just the starting point," Behnia said. "BMC plans to aggressively add to our mobility capabilities in the near future and continue our leadership in this critical space."
Recently TMCnet reported that AirWatch is empowering the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) movement with mobile security management.
AirWatch’s enterprise Android (News - Alert) management solution, for example, offers a comprehensive management tool for Android deployments for operating systems like 2.2 Froyo, 2.3.X Gingerbread, 3.X Honeycomb, and 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
Recently AirWatch was also named a leader in the 2012 Gartner (News - Alert) Magic Quadrant for Mobile Device Management Software.
