In an effort to become the only mobile device management provider offering three flexible delivery options, AirWatch has announced the availability of the AirWatch software appliance. The company now provides software deployed behind the corporate firewall, Software as a Service (SaaS (News - Alert)) and a software appliance.
The AirWatch solution tracks, monitors and manages an organization’s entire fleet of mobile devices as well as the people who use them.
With the help of AirWatch (News - Alert) software appliance, companies can secure, monitor, manage and support all their corporate-liable and employee-liable devices, regardless of the type or location as it is designed to support rapid mobile device deployments behind the corporate firewall. AirWatch provides corporate IT with a single, integrated, real-time view of all their mobile devices used across the organization.
“The addition of the AirWatch software appliance means all companies, regardless of their size, IT resources or devices used, now have access to industry-leading mobile device management functionality,” said John Marshall, AirWatch’s CEO. “This software appliance provides all the benefits of a robust MDM solution, but without the cost often associated with such solutions. The AirWatch software appliance represents a robust, cost-effective and long-term solution.”
Customers can start managing their mobile devices the same day they install the appliance with the AirWatch MDM software appliance. Along with all required middleware and operating system software, pre-installed on a server, AirWatch’s software appliance consists of the AirWatch application pre-configured and pre-integrated. Simplifying the software installation process and reducing the time and effort typically associated with such deployments, AirWatch pre-configures the solution’s MDM management console to a customer’s unique technical specifications before shipping the AirWatch software appliance.
Recently, the company announced AirWatch 5.11. It includes the globalization of the AirWatch management console and the addition of standard APIs for improved communication and deeper integration between AirWatch and other enterprise systems. The latest release also includes a comprehensive software inventory module; greater flexibility when configuring and updating devices; and further enhancements to AirWatch’s highly intuitive user interface, the company stated.
