MobileIron, a provider of innovative mobile device management solutions, has won the 2012 SC Award Europe for Best Mobile Device Management.
The award recognizes MobileIron’s ability to deliver enterprise-grade security while preserving the native user experience. The mobile device management provider beat several major companies including Good Technology (News - Alert) and McAfee Enterprise Mobility Management to achieve this recognition.
The award was presented to the company as its solution “bridges the gap between the security needs of the organization and the user experience demanded by the modern workforce.”
Additionally, MobileIron’s mobile device management offering provides an excellent solution to help organizations address the challenges associated with the consumerization of IT and the latest trends such as Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).
“This is probably one of the leaders in this field. This one wins out as it allows the users to use the native apps that they want rather than the sandboxed apps,” the judges noted.
MobileIron’s mobile device management solution is available as an on-premise or a cloud solution and is purpose-built to secure and manage mobile apps, data, and devices for global companies. It includes capabilities such as multi-OS mobile device management (MDM), mobile application management (MAM), and BYOD privacy controls.
“People buy an iPhone (News - Alert), iPad or Android device because that is what they want to use. When IT forces users into a container or other sort of sandbox approach, users revolt,” said Bob Tinker, CEO, MobileIron, in a statement. “This award is a testament to our work in solving the really hard problem of giving IT the security tools they need without interfering with the users’ productivity.”
Recently,TMCnet reported that the company unveiled MobileIron 4.5 which boasts multiple innovative features such as Android (News
) 4.0 security; encryption enforcement policies for Samsung GALAXY devices and all other devices running Android 3.0 and above; fully secure SSL VPN connectivity; Exchange account configuration with certificates; a single Android client for all devices; prompt notice when Android administrative privileges are removed; and hardware lockdown which enables IT to completely disable hardware capabilities through MobileIron.
