Learn More about Mobile Device Management via the First Annual Mobility Survey

By Jamie Epstein, TMCnet Web Editor

I’m sure by now -- or I at least hope for your sake -- that you have heard about the increasing popular trend of mobile device management. But do you know that when implementing an MDM strategy into your organization you can see some major benefits including raising productivity among mobile workers?

MDM’s main objective is to provide a high level of security on a mobile communications network while supporting multiple devices and continuing to reduce cost and downtime. This refers to both company-owned and employee-owned devices across the enterprise or mobile devices owned by consumers.

MobileIron, a leader in the space, knows the importance of this solution and has recently joined hands with SANS to host the First Annual Mobility Survey on April 12 at 1:00 p.m. EDT to provide participants with knowledge needed to figure out exactly what mobile actions are permitted on enterprise applications, as well as how enterprises can control in what specific situations these devices are utilized.

Gathering results from over 500 survey respondents within the IT field, findings highlight that: less than 10 percent of businesses reveal they are "fully aware" of the mobile devices in their network; over 60 percent of organizations currently enable staff to bring their own devices to work; 17 percent have stand-alone BYOD security and usage policies in place; and 24 percent stated that these policies are part of their existing policies.

Moreover, the survey shows that MDM users are most cautious about Android (News - Alert) devices, which are looked upon at the riskiest type of phone to support. Also, almost half of users don’t have any BYOD policy in place which could hurt a business significantly, causing it not to grow as rapidly as desired and ultimately loosing revenue.

Featuring thought leaders including Adam Stein, Kevin Johnson (News - Alert), Daniel Miessler and Tom Murphy, those who take part in this complimentary webcast will surely leave with invaluable information that can be leveraged to create a much more sustainable mobile environment now and as technology continues to evolve.
