Xerox Offering Takes the Pain out of Mobile Device Management

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

Although mobility has brought agility and increased productivity into business, it has also introduced unwanted baggage in the form of data breaches, malware and other security risks; but Xerox seems to have the solution to this with its newly introduced cloud-based Mobile Device Management (MDM) service.

Xerox’s mobile management approach is comprehensive and according to company official, includes everything that is required to simplify the process of identifying, securing and tracking the different types of employee-owned devices that are also work devices and used by them 24x7.

Ken Stephens, senior vice president of Cloud Services at Xerox, detailed the benefits of the company's MDM. Apart from eliminating complicated technical implementation, hardware and software costs, he said that it has the ability to adapt to any organization and manage virtually any mobile device, cost-effectively.

Further, companies can now connect all the devices and sync them seamlessly and also ensure that the devices can be locked and made unusable at any point of time. In fact, they could even be formatted remotely.

Alan Snyder, CEO of BoxTone (News - Alert), a Xerox partner, commented on Xerox's Mobile Device Management service and said, “The Xerox business cloud includes a mobile management approach that delivers the critical components for device management: security, ease-of-use and administration, and a price point that’s more than reasonable.”

Xerox’s cloud services include Boxtone’s automated technology for enterprise mobile management and mobile device management for the iPhone, iPad, Android (News - Alert) and BlackBerry devices and applications.

In other news, healthcare organizations and state agencies are increasingly turning to Xerox to help tackle their growing list of IT and federal reform requirements. From preparing for the new ICD-10 medical coding system to securely hosting healthcare data in the cloud, Xerox's work with customers places new emphasis on patient safety and healthy outcomes.
