Metro Ethernet: NetLogic Microsystems Expands Intellectual Property Portfolio

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

NetLogic Microsystems has expanded its intellectual property portfolio to include over 800 worldwide patents, filings and international registrations covering a broad range of innovations for its networking infrastructure products.

The company believes that due to the strength of its intellectual property portfolio, it has been at the forefront of innovation and technology leadership in high-performance multi-core processing, knowledge-based processing, digital front-end processing and 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet PHY solutions.

“The combination of our innovation-driven culture along with the creative talent of our exceptional engineering teams has enabled us to build our strong patent portfolio,” said Ron Jankov, president and chief executive officer at NetLogic (News - Alert) Microsystems

The growing breadth, depth and diversity of the patent portfolio are seen as a recognition of the company’s innovation and technology leadership in delivering highly differentiated products for advanced 3G/4G mobile wireless infrastructure, data center, enterprise, metro Ethernet, and edge and core infrastructure networks.

NetLogic Microsystems (News - Alert) is a provider of semiconductor solutions that are powering next-generation Internet networks. The company’s patent portfolio covers a wide range of innovations, from high-speed circuits to architecture enhancements, conceived during the company's continuing development of its knowledge-based processors, multi-core processors, digital front-end processors and 10/40/100 Gigabit Ethernet physical-layer (PHY) solutions.

“The power and breadth of our intellectual property is enabling us to further separate ourselves from the competition in delivering the industry's most advanced and complex semiconductor products for next-generation carrier-class, enterprise and data center applications,” Jankov said.

Recently, the company was recognized as a Top 50 Innovator in the Semiconductor Industry by the Patent Board. Also, it was ranked 8th in Industry Impact, which is based on the extent to which other companies are building upon a portfolio of issued U.S. utility patents as compared to the total set of utility patents.
