Telco Systems, provider of carrier-class transport and access solutions for public and private IP and TDM networks, announced Tuesday that its T-Metro platform has been certified MEF 9 compliant by the Metro Ethernet Forum. The certification verifies that the T-Metro provides 99.999 percent reliability.
Metro Ethernet Forum—an Irvine, CA based organization—issues the MEF certification to Ethernet products that pass a performance test designed to help network operators and service providers choose reliable metro Ethernet equipment. To achieve the MEF 9 certification, Telco’s T-Metro was tested by Iometrix in accordance with the MEF-approved Test Plan for Ethernet services at the User Network Interface.
"Following rigorous testing, this certification demonstrates how robust the T-Metro Ethernet platform is, offering carriers a flexible solution that allows them to migrate safely to IP networks," said Dave Lee, vice president of marketing and services for Telco Systems, in a press release announcing the certification.
Telco’s T-Metro supports a variety of interfaces including copper and fiber based fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and T1/E1 Circuit Emulation. It also can act as an edge device interconnecting traditional PSTN TDN circuit-switched networks and IP/MPLS core networks, or as an integral part of the MPLS network.
