InfoGuard Unveils New Metro Ethernet Encryption Product, EG10M

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributor

InfoGuard AG has extended its metro Ethernet encryption line with the launch of InfoGuard EG10M, a product version that is noted as 10 times faster than its competitors.

The multipoint product family includes InfoGuard EGM with transfer rates of 20 and 100 Mbps, InfoGuard EG1M with a data throughput of 200 Mbps and 1 Gbps, and EG10 for transfer rates of 2 and 10 Gpbs.

As stated, InfoGuard EG10M supports bandwidths of 2 and 10 gigabit per second connecting computer centers and backup infrastructures in various locations. Within metro Ethernet service networks, the hardware, designed for long-term deployment, enables error-free, flexible and instantaneous communication security, with low maintenance and configuration requirements.

InfoGuard official noted that the new flagship InfoGuard EG10M can be seamlessly deployed together with current lower speed product versions InfoGuard EG1M und EGM, in point-to-point, point-to multipoint, and multipoint to multipoint network topologies.

InfoGuard’s Layer 2 encryption product is said to enable data transfers, with no additional network latency. According to the company, its new EG10M encrypts digital data via the public Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a key length of 256 bit. The session key automatically changes each time a connection is established without interrupting the links and without loss of speed. The adopted high-security architecture is said to have been developed strictly in compliance with the requirements for cryptographic modules pursuant to FIPS 140-2 Level 3.

The InfoGuard multipoint devices are said to consistently comply with the specifications laid down by the Metro Ethernet Forum (News - Alert) (MEF) standard, and they support Class of Service, VLAN IDs and Q-in-Q tagging. Moreover, these devices encrypt a wide range of traffic types such as Unicast, Multicast and Broadcast.

As indicated by InfoGuard, its new EG10M product is made available via the distribution network of authorised InfoGuard trading partners.

Headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, founded in 2001, metro Ethernet services provider InfoGuard specializes in high-performance encryption solutions. The company’s wide range of clients includes public administration bodies, chemical corporations, telecommunications and industrial companies as well as insurances and banks.

Last year, TMCnet reported InfoGuard’s expansion of its range of SONET/SDH Encryption's with new products that can offer a cost-effective option for lower bandwidth legacy networks enabling organizations to securely aggregate circuits onto modern dark fiber, DWDM and CWDM networks.
