The UNSi acquisition of Airband that took place in May has started to bear fruit. United Network Services Inc., known as UNSi for short, announced that it has updated and repackaged the hosted VoIP services it acquired through the Airband acquisition as a cloud voice suite on its Cloud, Hosted Applications & Messaging Platform (CHAMP, for short).

Telarus (News - Alert) partners who are selling UNSi services now have an innovative, cloud-based voice suite for their small and mid-sized business customers.

The offering is intended for businesses with less than 200 seats, and it includes hosted PBX (News - Alert), SIP trunking and business line replacement.

Some of the new features that UNSi has added include mobility and voicemail-to-text functionality, according to master agent Telarus.

One of the features that makes the UNSi offering particularly interesting is its pricing based on user profiles. Companies can purchase based on profiles such as receptionists, conference rooms, executives and office workers, and others. They then only have to pay for the features they need and use, not the whole kitchen sink.

The new offering complements the existing sales opportunities that channel partners have through UNSi, including CloudMPLS, MPLS, Ethernet, Unified Communications (News - Alert), DIA, VPLS, Broadband, Managed Services and Hosted Monitoring.

As part of the acquisition, UNSi also has recently completed the upgrade of more than half of its wired and wireless underlying networks in the Dallas, Phoenix and Southern California markets. This includes the installation of new routers, switches and other networking gear.

The upgrade is part of a larger upgrade plan that will continue throughout 2013 for the company, ensuring that infrastructure is on the cutting edge.

Master agent Telarus began working with UNSi through the Airband purchase, and it is excited about the relationship.

“We're very excited to be working with UNSi,” noted Telarus president, Adam Edwards. “Our partners are anxious to source them for large MPLS opportunities and managed services.”

UNSi brings over 155,000 lit buildings across the country, services backed by 24x7 NOCs, 29 core POPs and more than 150 NNIs. The company does not conform to the traditional LATA boundaries as the older TDM and ILEC based Ethernet networks do, making its network extremely scalable and cost-effective. It also has one of the largest broadband footprints, with a relationship to more than 2,000 providers.
