In a recently concluded major developer event, MultiTech Systems (News - Alert) announced that it would continue to sponsor the AT&T Developer Program. The program is aimed at providing budding developers with the tools and resources they require to bring Internet of Things (IoT)-ready, M2M solutions to market.
To this end, AT&T (News - Alert) organizes a number of tech events for the developer community. The events are intended to encourage innovation in the M2M technology space. In its commitment to support these AT&T initiatives, MultiTech provided hardware, technical, and executive resources for such events. It has been a hardware sponsor for the recently concluded AT&T Hackathon and AT&T DevLab events.
Earlier this year, MultiTech provided hardware and technical resources for the AT&T Hackathon held in conjunction with the CES (News - Alert) show in January, executive resources for the judging panel of the AT&T Fast Pitch event held in conjunction with the M2M Evolution show in August, and hardware for development in the AT&T M2M DevLab events held in Plano, Texas, in July and San Francisco in August.
For better or worse, human dependence on Internet connectivity is on the rise and it is likely to hit its peak during the IoT era. If research findings are to be believed, the numbers of connected devices are likely to surpass the one million mark in a few years’ time. Human to machine and machine to machine interactions during IoT era would require seamless connection between the Internet and the devices. Worldwide, big ticket brands are developing machine-to-machine (M2M) communication technology platforms to power the IoT.
AT&T is all set to play a crucial role in the emerging M2M solutions market. The global communication giant offers a comprehensive suite of M2M solutions comprising connected devices and application services. A number of M2M vendors have joined AT&T in its efforts to promote interoperability of connected devices across a range of OSes and platforms. MultiTech Systems, a global provider of M2M platforms, has been playing a crucial part in this initiative. MultiTech’s hardware in the form of external and embedded modems, routers, and gateways are used worldwide to enable cellular, analog, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa, GPS, and other M2M communication capabilities for their IoT applications.
“As committed to the growth of developer’s community in the IoT space, MultiTech is [also] committed to growing the development community in the IoT space,” said Matt Sharma, Executive VP of MultiTech. “Our relationship with the AT&T Developer Program is an important example of how MultiTech engages the broader IoT ecosystem to further our vision of expanding the connected world.”
