Proactively managing tire pressure has its own set of advantages as it helps fleets reduce vehicle maintenance costs and improve fuel economy and safety. Fleet mobility technology enabler PeopleNet is taking full advantage of this by announcing the integration of its fleet mobility solution with Valor, a company specializing in tire pressure monitoring solutions.
Valor’s Tire Pressure and Temperature monitoring system is specifically engineered to meet the challenges of fleet management. Its patented solution monitors tires in real-time and consists of internally installed sensors that measure air pressure and temperature with tires every few seconds and transmits the values wirelessly.
“Our integration with Valor gives our customers yet another choice for providing real-time tire-pressure information directly to their maintenance desk,” Rick Ochsendorf, senior vice president of Product & Operations at PeopleNet, said in a statement.
PeopleNet’s Precision Mobility Platform combines network communications, mobility and analytics to create the next-generation standard in technology-driven fleet performance and decision-making management.
The integration is believed to be a remedy for natural leakage and seasonal climatic changes that lower tire pressure.
Providing drivers a visual indication can be an efficient way to alert them to check their vehicles' tire pressure before the pressure drops to lower-than-acceptable levels. Such timely indications can prevent unnecessary tire failure and tread wear, increased stopping distance, reduced fuel economy and the overall threat to vehicle safety, says the company.
“We’re proud to be a key PeopleNet integration partner,” said Will Hu, president at Valor. “Our collaborative relationship enables us to provide our advanced, patented Tire Pressure Monitoring System to PeopleNet’s customers. Our solution integrates seamlessly within PeopleNet’s open framework. In this way, we are able to deliver reliable, timely data that leads to better tire efficiency, increased safety, and overall logistic benefits.”
