Multi-Tech (News - Alert) Systems is on the cutting edge of technology, by providing M2M (machine-to-machine) communications products and services. Customers – found around the world – benefit by revenue optimization, optimization of mission-critical functions, or by achieving competitive differentiation.
To get an idea of the company’s continued success, Multi-Tech has over 80 patents, as well as over 20 million devices used by thousands of customers. It has clients in most markets to allow for analog, Bluetooth, cellular, GPS, and Wi-Fi capabilities into M2M solutions. Multi-Tech Systems offers certified routers, modems, and gateways.
During ITEXPO Miami, Dave Barczak, director of Business Development at Multi-Tech, told TMC’s (News - Alert) Rachel Ramsey, “The value to the companies we work with is that they have a number of paths they can take to deploy their connected product and service programs. By using our certified and approved products, we are able to help them reduce their total cost of ownership, mitigate risk, as well as accelerate … return on investment.”
Looking at the current outlook for connected products, Barczak says his company is seeing a lot of use of their products in the healthcare and medical sectors. These include companies which have portable medical devices, with devices which can be used away from clinics or hospitals – and need to be connected to a network. One example is the use of portable defibrillators. The tech can be used by emergency room staff so there is improved monitoring of patients being transported by ambulance – and thus giving EMTs and paramedics more time to focus on caring for the patient.
“The emergency room is better prepared, they have a better understanding of what the patient’s vitals [vital signs] are, and they are in a much better position to immediately start providing care,” Barczak said.
In some other key news, earlier this year Multi-Tech announced a partnership with Aeris (News - Alert) Communications. Now, it will be easier for customers to connect both with Aeris and Multi-Tech. The companies explained how they will provide products and services for deploying the Internet of Things. The announcement built on Multi-Tech previously working with the Aeris CDMA (code division multiple access) network in North America. Now, Aeris offers expanded access to GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications).
