It’s been a huge month so far for the IoT as major companies like Intel (News - Alert) have announced big plans for the space. As such, now is the time for companies that specialize in the IoT to step forward with solutions that will help bring the IoT forward. This appears to be exactly what myDevices, an IoT solutions company, is thinking as the company this week announced Cayenne, a robust platform designed specifically for IoT projects.

The announcement was made at this week’s IoT Evolution Expo in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where a worldwide community of IoT technologists, business leaders and strategists have gathered to help attendees learn how to leverage the power of the IoT to move their businesses forward.

"We are very excited to introduce the IoT community to Cayenne, our versatile developer and maker solution, first designed for the Raspberry Pi maker," said Kevin Bromber, CEO of myDevices. "There are a lot of IoT platforms on the market, yet there are few IoT platforms that actually let the developer build a project without having to dig deep into SDKs and APIs just to get a simple proof of concept created."

With Cayenne, myDevices has an IoT platform that enables companies to efficiently connect devices, visualize data, apply sophisticated rules and interact with their connected customers. This news also signals an extension of myDevices’ versatile device and connectivity agnostic platform that launched in October to the developer and marker community.

According to myDevice, Cayenne has a number of revolutionary capabilities. These include automatic device and senor discovery that enables Cayenne to be setup in as little as seven minutes, drag-and-drop widgets that allow developers to visualize real-time and historical data online or from a mobile app, and triggers that allow one sensor, motor or actuator to invoke an action on another device.

In addition, Cayenne features threshold alerts that send emails or text messages based on customizable criteria, along with the ability to schedule specific fays and times when lights, motors, valves and actuators are turned on and off. As myDevices puts it, Cayenne allows engineers to develop IoT projects in hours as opposed to months.

Meanwhile, for businesses, Cayenne means cost-effective prototyping and streamlined workflows, while home users benefit from easy and fluid control of home automation, security, sensors and lighting.
