Internet of Things Experts to Share Insight on Security at Fort Lauderdale Event

Norwalk, CT—November 5, 2015—TMC (News - Alert) and Crossfire Media announced today the security track at IoT Evolution Expo, held January 25-28, 2016. IoT Evolution Expo is directed at companies interested in understanding how to develop, integrate and deploy Internet of Things (IoT) strategies. On Tuesday, January 26th through Thursday, January 28th the security track will provide guidance, thought leadership and sound advice on how to ensure the integrity and security of the network of intelligent interconnected devices.

“It’s great to continue our discussion on security implementation strategies. The security track at IoT Evolution Expo avoids the “sky is falling” sensationalism and focuses on where the solutions can be implemented,” said Carl Ford (News - Alert), CEO, Crossfire Media, executive director of content, IoT Evolution. “Delegates will learn how to stay out of the headlines while implementing IoT.”

The security track includes:

Tuesday, January 26, 2016

  • 1:30PM - Protecting and Defending the Edge- Do 50 Billion sensors need security when there are millions out there already that don’t have security? How does a security plan get put in place that manages so many sensors in so many situations? Hear about best practice security solutions for the IoT’s diverse ecosystem of technology.
  • 2:30PM - Device Level Security- They call it hardening: when you verify you have locked down your sensors and modules in order to minimize security breaches. Given the level of sophistication out in the marketplace, extra precautions have to be taken to assure integrity. This panel discusses how to implement these precautions to minimize the risk.
  • 3:45PM - Device Encryption - Elliptical encryption is the method of choice for transport, but what about the internals of systems and devices? Do they have to have encryption as well? Find out what you need to be aware of in order to adequately ensure the security of your devices.

Wednesday, January 27th, 2016

  • 8:30AM - The First Layer of Security – Hear from security experts about how technology can protect your physical spaces, personnel and business information, while limiting exposure to sophisticated data intruders.
  • 3:00PM - The Core of Network Security - This panel addresses the issues of deploying networks, managing ID’s and protecting the network from hackers.
  • 4:00PM - IoT Solutions and Wi-Fi Security - For many IoT solutions WiFi (News - Alert) is the preferred method of connectivity. Many times this is a shared network. What security threats happen as a result of using WiFi gateways in both shared and closed environments?
  • 5:00PM - IoT Disasters and Diameter Denial of Service Attacks - Hear about what can be done to quell the packet storm and manage the consequence of such events.

Thursday, January 28, 2016

  • 9:00AM - APPropriate Levels of Security- Application Level Security is sometimes viewed as the ultimate security location. How can applications lock themselves down and ensure that they are not a gateway to an Enterprise? Does using mobile web apps add additional vulnerabilities?
  • 10: 00AM - SmartPhone SmartApps SmartSecurity- Let’s face facts: we live in a mixed environment world, where devices are going to be used for entertainment and business. What is the proper method of either partitioning or preventing compromises of data security on smart devices?
  • 11:00AM - Privacy and Anonymization- Part of the problem with the data breaches of late is the lack of database management to secure the anonymity of the subscriber’s data. Often information is stored inappropriately and when it comes to analytics the value is in finding the pattern not the person. This session discusses how to effectively manage data so that big data is safe data.

IoT Evolution Expo is also supported by Diamond Sponsors Multicopter and Telit; Platinum Sponsors Eurotech; Gold Sponsors KORE, Ingenu and Sprint (News - Alert) and Corporate sponsor SIMCom.
