Innovation, Customer Service Key to the Success of Least Cost Routing Specialist TransNexus

By Beecher Tuttle, TMCnet Contributor

Atlanta-based TransNexus (News - Alert) has been helping service providers manage their wholesale VoIP networks for well over a decade, specializing in critical carrier services like least cost routing, number portability, fraud detection, profitability analysis and QoS controls.

To give its members a better window into the company's core business, COMPTEL (News - Alert), a telecom industry association representing communication service providers, recently reached out to TransNexus's founder and CEO, Jim Dalton, to talk about the state of the company and the VoIP market in general.

In a recent COMPTEL weekly e-newsletter, Dalton detailed two main reasons for TransNexus's success: innovation and customer service. With more than 15 years in the market, TransNexus is considered a pioneer in the VoIP space, particularly when looking at its operations support system (OSS) software. Simply put, TransNexus builds game-changing products that didn't exist before the company was founded, says Dalton, who himself holds seven U.S. patents for VoIP clearing and settlement technology.

Dalton also points to the company's ability to connect with its customers and make them feel 100 percent confident in a tailored solution before they commit to any purchase.

When asked what challenges and obstacles companies like TransNexus face, Dalton highlighted the slow adoption of VoIP technology for interconnecting carrier networks and the dynamic requirements of new and existing customers. However, he said that carriers are beginning to embrace VoIP in a big way and that the industry is "on the verge of creating new business models that will drive adoption of new services, such as high definition audio and video services."

Recent wins booked by TransNexus include a partnership with Acme Packet (News - Alert) – a move that has helped the company expand into the enterprise space – and the development of a greater presence in the fraud detection market. The company recently released a fraud detection product that "is well positioned to detect and block fraudulent calls" for both service providers and enterprises, says Dalton.

To hear more thoughts from Dalton on fraud protection, check out his recent interview with TMC's Erik Linask (News - Alert) at ITEXPO East 2012, which just wrapped up in Miami.
