Least Cost Routing: TransNexus Unveils Reporting and Monitoring Software for Acme Packet SBCs

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Web Editor

Least cost routing solutions provider TransNexus (News - Alert) has unveiled version 2.0 of its SDReporter software, which delivers deep and extensive visibility into VoIP network performance, for Acme Packet (News - Alert) Session Border Controllers (SBCs). A complete reporting package, SDReporter offers a comprehensive set of quality of service (QoS) data reported by these SBCs.

Positioned as a solution for overseeing QoS and service level agreements (SLAs) for VoIP peering, TransNexus’ SDReporter software can be streamlined with Acme Packet SBCs call detail records as a deep packet inspection tool at a small part of the cost.

“We heard loud and clear, from carrier and enterprise customers, the need for an easy to understand solution to monitor Service Level Agreements and generate alarms if Quality of Service for any peering connection falls below its SLA,” said Jim Dalton (News - Alert), CEO of TransNexus.

The Acme Packet-SDReporter solution is positioned as a perfect combination for the monitoring of VoIP peering SLAs, due to its affordable cost as a deep inspection tool, according to Dalton. “Acme Packet SBCs provide a wealth of QoS statistics. Other SBCs do not provide enough QoS statistics to accurately monitor SLAs and require an additional deep packet inspection tool.”

The SDReporter solution enables novice operators to visually distinguish and troubleshoot service issues through the solution’s color-coded and categorized presentation of QoS data. Segmented by customer, provider, dial code and time of day, SDReporter pinpoints QoS problems by IP link, which enables operators to rapidly isolate the issues to the ingress or egress network. In addition, the solution can independently evaluate the effects on the calling or called party, as well as break down summary reports into individual devices and call detail records.

SDReporter, which is now available to North American customers, was first launched in Asia Pacific, Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
