Consona Releases Made2Manage CADLink To Interface Design And ERP Systems

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Consona Corporation is a global leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for various companies. The company released Made2Manage CADLink Interface for SolidWorks and Autodesk (News - Alert) Inventor to interface design and ERP systems.

Engineers are concentrating on building and revising products in order to be in demand. But they often do not have access to the inventory and production data in an ERP system. By incorporating SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor, CADLink ensures Computer-aided design model and ERP databases are up-to-date, new part creation and bill of material (BOM) updates are automated. It also allows the user interface to be changed to the desired view easily.

In a release, Craig Girdwood, president of QBuild Corporation said that “We focus on streamlining product design, engineering and production processes with the integration between CAD and ERP systems. Consona (News - Alert) has ideal functionality and technology for helping manufacturers improve quality and save time.”

The features of CADLink are framed around three principle capabilities:

CADLink lets the user to create and access Made2Manage data directly from the CAD application. It is automatically added to the menus and the toolbars of SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor. It also evaluates the CAD model’s BOM and compares it to the BOM in Made2Manage after it is launched. Pre-set “templates” can be used to add new parts to Made2Manage, that automatically occupy new item masters with data common to a particular product category, thereby eliminating repetitive data entry.

CADLink maintains updated data and keeps the systems coordinated. BOM and/or item-level differences between CAD models and ERP data can be easily viewed by sending item revisions from SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor directly into Made2Manage. To ensure that the information displayed in Drawings always matched ERP system data, the key item master properties within Made2Manage are stored and synchronized directly inside the CAD model custom properties.

CADLink assists quick and easy access to information. To search and access the existing part numbers, Made2Manage database can be used. Using the SolidWorks model you can decide which parts need to be ignored from the Made2Manage BOM.

In a release, Frank O’Nell, vice president of product management, Consona said that “CADLink is a breakthrough in streamlining communication in manufacturing operations, and will contribute measurably to a manufacturer’s success in this competitive marketplace.”
