Omanye Money has added to its suite of options for its customers in Ghana. The global personal and corporate payment accounts solutions provider announced in a press release on Monday that it is now offering residents in Ghana the ability to transfer funds from their mobile phones to their Airtel (News - Alert) Money wallets. This is the first time the company has extended such an opportunity to its subscribers.

The new function promises to deliver instant, secure transfers that can be sent via text message and Interactive Voice Response (IVR) around the clock. The service can be leveraged through cardless withdrawals at Fidelity Bank ATMs and 2,500 Airtel agents across the region. With this offering, Omanye is putting the spotlight on its customer support team, as it touts 24/7 online and agent transfer services.

Once a transfer goes through, Airtel Money wallet holders can use the money however they wish. Despite the service only being offered to Ghana residents, recipients can receive and spend the money internationally.

Here's how it works: If you're sending money via text, punch in: "Te2A*sender account number*amount*receiver airtel mobile number*sender's security code" to: +44 2033 222 695/+1 202 601 3949. Make sure you're using a phone linked to the same number you used to set up your Omanye account.

To access the service by IVR, users can call +44 2033 222 695/+1 202 601 3949 and press 5, then 44 and then follow the voice instructions. The same deal regarding the phone number linked to the Omanye account pertains to this option as well.

Not only do the new services provide an added convenience to users, they provide an empowerment to disadvantaged people and businesses. Omanye Limited, based in the United Kingdom, caters in particular to the unbanked and under-banked, particularly small or mid-sized African enterprises.

“This feature is very consistent with our mission of providing instant, secure and convenient payment and transfer services,” said Sammy Crabbe, CEO of Omanye.
