Siri, the intelligent personal assistant for the iPhone (News - Alert) that helps to get things done just by asking appears to have a rival in Android Voice Extreme (AVX), the new voice assistant for Android (News - Alert) devices. The host of features present in AVX are reportedly far greater and advanced than those present in iPhone's Siri.

The latest version now includes support for NFC tags on compatible devices and is being regarded as a must have and safe app for users that want to use voice for in-car use. Users can read and reply to incoming text messages and e-mails, configure multiple e-mail accounts without removing their hands from the steering wheel.

Using AVX, any contact in the address book can be called and users can filter tweets and Facebook (News - Alert) feeds and have only specific tweets read out. Apart from being able to remind users about calendar events and location based actions, AVX can qualify reminders and actions with direction of travel or time of day. For those who need to take memos, make lists and journal entries, Evernote (News - Alert) integration helps to get all these together in one place.

In case you have trouble locating a place, the app gets directions to any location including restaurant, (when you're hungry), using Google Maps. By integrating with Tasker, users can completely control their devices. Actions can be executed using NFC tags. By placing tags and swiping the phone past them, many functions like switching a profile or even opening a garage door, can be executed. In addition, device settings can be configured correctly so that only the functions that are needed for that location are activated.

So whether you want to launch an application and open browser marks, want information about the weather, tally your expenses, find places or just be entertained, AVX (News - Alert) does it all for you. The complete hands-free mode and car mode with specially fitted functions does make it safer to use the phone while driving.

AVX is slowly becoming more popular in the Android world and some do say that it's almost equal to iPhone's Siri. The app can be downloaded from Google Play.
