IVR technology makes it easier for companies to keep tabs on their mobile workforce and gather job status information. However, IVR alone cannot help them verify the location or check calls. In order to bridge the gap, location-based mobile workforce management and messaging solution provider Abaqus has introduced an automatic location feature to one of its IVR solutions, bizMessage enterprise SMS service.
In its enhanced version, bizMessage enterprise SMS service, a solution designed to enable companies to improve their assets’ and resources’ productivity and ROI, comes with a geo-tagged IVR feature called myGeoTracking, enabling mobile check-in/checkout for field employees.
Integrating with a range of back-office programs myGeoTracking can provide the type of real-time location, easy messaging and team job status reports most companies need on a day-to-day basis. With this geo tracking capability, a worker’s phone can be located and associated with the IVR status choice so the supervisors know the mobile employees’ exact status and location.
By facilitating mobile-time clocking, trip auto-track triggers and job status notification, the new feature helps the companies to improve worker accountability and customer responsiveness. The geo-tagging feature also comes to help in maintaining HOS data for back-end fleet management systems.
Broker and 3PL customers requiring to handle recurring transportation jobs, are expected to benefit from other myGeoTracking features including a mileage estimator, and a trip “wizard.”
The myGeoTracking service from Abaqus is completely Web-based and does not require special GPS devices, phones or software, the company clarified in a statement.
Unlike smartphone-based applications that require special phones and client apps, the powerful myGeoTracking mobile workforce management solution can find the location of any phone or wireless device by probing the cellular network for a general position using either Cell ID (located within the service area of a cell tower), or a precise location using GPS inside the device.
“Abaqus’ myGeoTracking applications have helped us comply with tracking and reporting requirements for our USG business. As our driver pool is mostly comprised of contract employees, it is important for them to be able to control their opt-in/opt-out process and start/stop their trip tracking right at the beginning and end of their mail delivery trips. This level of fine-grained control is another step-up in the overall efficiency of our fleet operation,” CEO of Piedmont Logistics Inc Jeff Linville acknowledged in a statement.
Earlier this year, Abaqus announced a partnership with 1Shop Wireless, a master agent for T-Mobile (News
