Shreveport Employer Teleperformance to Hire 740 More

Teleperformance has long been a key player in the Shreveport, LA, economy. Now, they have announced plans to hire 740 people, which will bring their workforce to 2,000 strong. Some 400 of those new employees are slated to be hired by the end of the year, and the remainder of the new employees are slated to be hired in 2014. According to a joint statement from Louisiana’s Gov. Bobby Jindal and Travis Coates, the executive vice president of operations for Teleperformance (News - Alert), this additional workforce will make Teleperformance’s Shreveport campus one of the largest domestic business process outsourcing centers. In fact, in the next few years, payroll at the Shreveport campus will total $45 million.

Gov. Jindal sees Teleperformance as an asset to the Shreveport community. He went on to note, “As a global leader in the customer support industry, Teleperformance could have located these new jobs anywhere in the world, but they chose Louisiana because of our strong business climate and outstanding workforce.” He says that Louisiana has a great deal to offer employers; “Louisiana’s strong economy and our great track record of providing job creators with top-notch employees are proof that our state is the best place for businesses to invest and create jobs.”

While the impact will, of course, be most notable in Shreveport, it is anticipated that the addition of these new jobs will reverberate throughout the state. According to Louisiana Economic Development (LED), there is the potential for this addition to create 637 new indirect jobs throughout the state. The mayor of Shreveport, Cedric Glover, is enthusiastic about Teleperformance’s impact on both his city and the region, noting, “An expansion of this magnitude has a positive economic impact that touches lives even beyond our city limits.” This will, no doubt, come as good news to everyone who lives in Shreveport and the surrounding area.
