USA Datanet Enhances E-mail and Collaboration Services with BlueTie Solution

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor

BlueTie, Inc., a provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS (News - Alert)) solutions for small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) announced Tuesday that its e-mail and collaboration services are now being offered to more than 50,000 residential and commercial customers of IP communications provider USA Datanet.

Under a private-label deal, USA Datanet is reselling the services in question to its customers. The transition from an internally-managed, UNIX-based e-mail system to the new services went smoothly, BlueTie said, because of that company’s automated provisioning system which is capable of handling more than five million accounts each month.

In an announcement about the new services, USA Datanet said that BlueTie’s solution provide the scalability and functionality needed to both provide customers with the e-mail and collaboration functionality they demand, and to protect those customers from spam and viruses.

“The user migration process was very well thought-out and executed,” said Scott Matukas, USA Datanet’s president and COO, in a statement. “Now we can focus on our core service offerings and expanding our business, confident that BlueTie will deliver the best available email and collaboration services to our customers.”

USA Datanet residential customers now have access to the following service features:
  • 1 gigabyte e-mail storage
  • E (News - Alert)-mail contacts management
  • AJAX client with support for POP3, IMAP4, and SMTP
Business customers also get the following features:
  • Information manager with 2 gigabytes of e-mail storage, personal calendaring, and task management
  • WAP 2.0 client for accessing e-mail from wireless devices
  • DirectConnect for synchronization with Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook
Additionally, a collaboration suite is available to USA Datanet business customers as an optional upgrade. The suite includes 10 gigabytes of e-mail and file storage, instant messaging, calendar and sharing, and online file sharing.

Kevin Beatson, Vice President of BlueTie’s Service Provider Sales and Marketing department commented in a statement that USA Datanet’s focus on delivering affordable, enterprise-class voice and data services to SMBs is “directly in line with BlueTie's services and business focus, making this an ideal partnership.”

USA Datanet provides a range of integrated IP communications services, including VoIP, Internet access, and IP trunking. Last May (2006), the company launched its Hosted IP Communications Suite for Upstate New York-based companies, and announced plans to expand into nearby regions.
