IP Phones from Snom Save Costs and Energy

By Stefania Viscusi, Assignment Desk Editor

IP phones provider snom is advocating to decision makers that aside from the cost benefits their IP phones can provide for a business, a "sustainable and encompassing green strategy does not stop at energy-saving servers, computers, and monitors, but also includes phone communications."

According to company officials, their IP phones make it possible to conserve energy when making calls.

Officials note that their phones include a number of advanced business telephony features along with the ability to save resources, and lower power costs.

A test conducted by the Research Team for Telecommunications Networks (Forschungsgruppe für Telekommunikationsnetze) at the University of applied science Frankfurt am Main, compared power consumption of  VoIP phones produced by seven well-known manufacturers and uncovered that snom phones offered the lowest power consumption when on standby, in call, a three-party conference or on standby after a call.

In addition, snom offers a calculator to help companies learn how big their cost-savings with snom IP phones are in comparison to other IP phone models as well as how much money and carbon dioxide is being saved per year.

The company recently made headlines when they announced their suite of IP phones for the desktop passed battery interoperability tests with 4PSA’s VoipNow cloud-based unified communications product.

With this interoperability and the combination of snom’s open SIP architecture and 4PSA’s cloud computing communications customers are offered a low-cost, highly functional enterprise telephony system that can be easily deployed and scaled for hundreds to thousands of endpoints, as needed.
