Whaleback Systems Teaming with snom Technology for Enterprise and SMB Mobility

By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

After an extensive testing and evaluation process, Whaleback Systems has certified snom Technology AG’s m3 IP DECT (News - Alert) phone as interoperable and ready for deployment with its CrystalBlue Voice Service, the company's managed VoIP service for the small and mid-sized business  (SMB) market.

The technology partnership with snom, a developer and manufacturer of advanced Voice over IP phones for enterprise and residential markets, is expected to extend both companies reach even further into the growing VoIP SMB space.

"The snom m3 reaffirms Whaleback's strong commitment to office mobility and complements our existing suite of mobile services," said David Zwicker, Whaleback's vice president of marketing. "By integrating the snom m3 with Whaleback CrystalBlue Voice, employees can enjoy the benefits of intra-office mobility and take advantage of the advanced VoIP calling features of Whaleback Crystal Blue Voice Service without being tethered to their desk phone."

As TMCnet recently reported, snom’s VoIP phones are becoming more accessible and even easier to deploy in the small-to-medium sized business (SMB) space with the recent release of Digium’s Switchvox SMB 4.0.

The partnership between the German-based VoIP phone maker and Digium, the Asterisk Company, allows Switchvox (News - Alert), a Web-aware IP PBX, to automatically detect and provision snom 3 series phones including its recently released 820 phone.

In fact, the snom lineup is tailored to the SMB space through its desktop and wireless devices that are built to combine the latest technology with innovative designs which includes its new m3 wireless mobile device that leverages new technology to offer clear voice and strong data transmissions.

The snom m3 IP DECT phone is the company's first cordless offering and provides an optimal VoIP communications system with an indoor range of 164 feet and an outdoor range of 328 feet. In addition, it is an expandable system with multiline functionality for up to eight handsets - allowing for up to three parallel calls at time.

"The combination of the snom m3 with Whaleback's Crystal Voice Service provides businesses with the capability to offer a mobile communications solution in the workplace that is seamlessly and securely integrated with their office phone system," said Michael Knieling (News - Alert), executive vice president of sales and marketing for snom.

The m3 IP DECT has a 128 x 128 pixel color display with backlight function and operates for 10 hours talk time or 100 hours standby. Additional features include call transferring, call forwarding, and speed dialing with an address book allowing up to 100 entries.

Whaleback Systems (News - Alert) is the only company to deliver an end-to-end broadband business telephony service for SMB customers that features a managed, premises-based IP PBX with Key System Functionality along with a broadband-based telephony service infrastructure, according to the company.
