snom technology AG has integrated its snom klarVOICE phones in its portfolio of wideband VoIP phones with ZipDX, a next generation audio conferencing service.

 

ZipDX is a conferencing service that offers standards- based wideband audio enabling high-fidelity conference calls.

 

The snom klarVOICE is a wideband handset that can be adapted to all snom VoIP telephones, while capturing more than twice the spectrum of voice frequencies than standard phones enabling phone conversations with greater clarity and richness, according to the company.

As TMCnet reported last year, the new snom klarVOICE handset works with the codec G.722. This codec is able to shrink the bit rate of the voice channel down to 12.65 kbps, offering quality.

 

The companies will showcase the wideband VoIP conferencing solution this week at the HD Communications Summit. The event, a day-long conference on wideband VoIP technologies and trends, is schedule for Thursday, May 21 at New World Stages in New York City.

 

For years, many in the telecom space have been touting Wideband VoIP as the next logical step in the evolution of IP telephony, ultimately enabling the delivery of phone conversations with increased audio quality.

 

Michael Knieling (News - Alert), executive vice president of Marketing and Sales at snom, believes the teaming is delivering on that promise.

 

"The combination of ZipDX's cutting-edge conference 2.0 technology with snom's klarVOICE powered phones offers businesses a powerful collaboration tool that raises the bar for audio conferencing," said Knieling.

 

According to ZipDX Founder and CEO David Frankel, ZipDX is the only conferencing service available to support snom klarVOICE with a suite of wide- band VoIP phones which include its new conference phone, snom MeetingPoint, snom 820 desktop phone and snom 3xx series. ZipDX also supports snom's non wide-band VoIP phones.

 

snom MeetingPoint, which also allows for 12 SIP extensions and native connectivity with Microsoft (News - Alert) OCS, is designed to record meetings with up to 10 participants with a USB port that allows users to transfer the recordings.

 

ZipDX, a Polycom ARENA partner, is one of the first to offer HD voice-enabled conferencing. ZipDX worked with a number of companies to test their HD conference service with the new SoundStation IP 6000 and IP 7000 conference phones.
