By Tim Gray, TMCnet Web Editor

snom Technology AG is extending the reach of its of IP communications solutions to the small to medium business market through the ADTRAN (News - Alert) Alliance Program, according to the company.

A leading developer and manufacturer of advanced Voice over IP phones for enterprise and residential markets, snom’s m3 IP DECT (News - Alert) phone is now interoperable within the ADTRAN Alliance Program. ADTRAN is a supplier of networking and communications solutions.

As TMCnet reported this week, ADTRAN announced its new IP Communications Alliance Program designed to bring the company together with other “best-in-breed” technology and service providers at the VoiceCON Orlando 2009 conference.

The ADTRAN Alliance Program will work with providers that complement the NetVanta 7000 converged IP PBX (News - Alert) Series, the company’s “office in a box” VoIP solution for converged SMB networks with complete voice and data networking for business locations up to 50 stations.

snom’s 3 IP DECT phone is the German company’s first cordless offering and provides a VoIP communications system for the home office, SMB or enterprise. The device has an indoor range of 164 feet and an outdoor range of 328 feet, and is an expandable system with multiline functionality for up to eight handsets allowing for up to three parallel calls at time.

Michael Knieling (News - Alert), executive vice president of sales and marketing for snom, said the combination of snom’s fourth generation SIP phones integrated with ADTRAN’s NetVanta 7000 IP PBX Series is “an ideal fit for SMBs requiring an advanced business telephony solution that blends ease of use with rich VoIP features that drive employee productivity and operational efficiency.”

“snom’s joining the ADTRAN Alliance Program is another proof point of our continued momentum in teaming with the industry’s premier, best-of-breed technology partners,” said Knieling.

The 3 IP DECT phone has a 128 x 128 pixel color display with backlight function and operates for 10 hours talk time or 100 hours standby. Additional features include three-way conference calls, call transferring, music while on hold, call forwarding and speed dialing with an address book allowing up to 100 entries.

Knieling says products and services selected for inclusion in the program address key needs in the SMB market with a wide range of business applications that enabling end users to increase productivity, efficiency, and reduce costs.

In order to qualify for alliance membership, companies must successfully complete interoperability testing with ADTRAN’s NetVanta 7000 Series platform, which offers a complete voice and data networking solution for business locations of up to 50 stations.

These innovative platforms combine multiple functions including an IP PBX, voice mail, multilevel auto attendant, full-featured IP router, 24-port PoE switch, firewall, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) into a one box system.

This program was created to help identify best-of-breed technology providers that are particularly equipped to address the network issues and challenges facing our customers today,” said Tim Saunders, vice president, product management, ADTRAN Enterprise Networks Division. “Together with companies like snom, we are empowering our customers by giving them the necessary tools to build an end-to-end communications network best suited to their needs.”

It has been a busy spring for snom, after spending much of the time rolling out new products including its first conference phone and an environmentally friendly touch screen phone, the company this week introduced the snom MeetingPoint.

The SIP-based conference phone is now available for the North American enterprise and small to medium business (SMB) markets.
