IP Phones and video conferencing solutions are gaining popularity in the business world these days. Zoom Video Communications is a company looking to make its mark with the announcement it has doubled the number of people who can use its video conferencing services.
Users of Zoom’s free and paid services will be able to get as many as 50 people in a session. This increases the number of people who will be able to take part at one time by twice as many as first allowed. Zoom’s services are nicely complimented with the proper IP phones and conferencing solutions in place.
"We didn't make major adjustments to our technology to double our standard meeting capacity from 25 to 50 participants," Yuan said in a recent email to eWEEK. "We built Zoom to be scalable to the needs of our customers, so it was like flipping a switch to add this capacity."
By allowing as many as 50 people to interact in a single video conferencing session, a firm can not only hold a meeting but actually give a rather massive presentation whenever they need. All of this can be done using Zoom’s services for $14.99 or $19.99 a month. There is also a free version which allows one-on-one video conferencing without limit. When others join the conference, there is a 40-minute time limit.
Zoom is just the latest in what is becoming an ever longer line of firms that are offering cloud and software based video conferencing solutions to both enterprises and small businesses. Companies are finding ways to take advantage of employees who are working from home or from hundreds of miles away from a firm’s headquarters.
