While Plantronics (News - Alert) is a company that specializes in communications and collaborations solutions, the company might be best known to consumers for its high end headsets that can be used on a number of different platforms. The company certainly knows where its bread is buttered considering it just announced two new versions of its Blackwire series headsets. The new headsets will be part of the entry-level Blackwire 315 and 325 corded headsets.
Both of the brand new headsets feature a couple of different connectivity options thanks to using both USB and 3.5mm connectivity ports. This means that people using a PC, smartphone, tablet or any combination of the three will be able to mix and match whether needs call for changing it up. While interchangeability is nice for the personal user, this also makes it that much easier for a company’s IT department because it can more easily match the right headset to an individual’s work style or work environment.
This kind of interchangeability can also make the worker that much happier because they can have a headset that will work no matter what kind of device they are working on. Less clutter, less time taken putting one headset down and picking another up and more platforms because the headset they are using works with anything are all things that will make the worker happier and more productive.
Organizations will also be able to mass deploy headsets because they all work on whatever platform the firm uses. Plantronics understands that when it comes to working in an environment that uses tools like IP phones, mobility becomes key. A worker might be sitting at their desk working on a desktop PC, or they might be sitting in a commons area using a tablet. These headsets will now be able to go with the worker and the IP Phone (News - Alert) line where ever the user needs them to go.
