Nology, a provider of broadband connectivity, has announced that Yealink has selected it as a platinum distributor for Yealink’s (News - Alert) IP phones in South Africa.

"This award is a great achievement for Nology and is a direct result of our commitment to providing quality products and, above all, industry-leading service to all our customers. We would like to thank our loyal resellers and partners because without them we would not have been able to achieve this accolade," Nology managing director Karel Leuschner said.

Leuschner added that platinum distributor status will allow the company to offer greater pre-and-post-sales support to its customer base and grow its dedicated VoIP team.

Hardware makers like Yealink have found themselves in a symbiotic relationship with service providers like Nology. The obvious reason is that VoIP phones need some form of service to be usable, and VoIP service in turn is well suited to desktop VoIP phones like those Yealink specializes in.

Even though it’s possible for people to make VoIP calls on PCs, smartphones and tablets, dedicated VoIP phones are often more reliable. Since the connection is based on Ethernet, it won’t suddenly drop or degrade the way cellular connections often do. Dedicated phones also only have firmware dedicated to making calls, so they won’t crash the way other devices can.

For applications that need reliable communications, such as in call centers, having the device as reliable as the VoIP service is paramount. That’s why hardware and service providers have been partnering with each other in recent years.

Yealink is also optimistic about the future of the partnership.
