PortaOne, Yealink Positioned for the Future of IP Telephony
By Alisen Downey, TMCnet Web Editor

With the rise of IP communications in the enterprise landscape, it’s important to ensure that devices are working in harmony with the platforms that facilitate IP connectivity. For businesses using the customer management and service provisioning software platform PortaSwitch it just got even easier to implement Yealink’s (News - Alert) wide range of IP phones. Last week, Yealink successfully completed another round of interoperability testing for its IP phone models with the newest iteration of PortaSwitch.

Following Yealink’s DECT (News - Alert), VP, T3X, and T2X series’ previous certifications, the telecommunications provider can now assure clients that nearly all of its SIP phones are compatible with PortaSwitch. The PortaSwitch platform was designed for telecommunication service providers, wholesale carriers, ISP, MVNO, and NGN operators to unify voice and data traffic within a single converged network. It was created by software developer PortaOne (News - Alert), which provides billing and softswitch solutions for telecoms.

“Yealink’s SIP phones provide cutting edge features and functions, and PortaOne’s PortaSwitch platform is leading the way for providers to sell both SIP trunks and hosted IP PBX services for demanding business customers,” said Stone Lu (News - Alert), senior vice president for sales and marketing of Yealink. “This interop certification with PortaOne highlights Yealink’s commitment to provide value to our customers and resellers by supporting our service provider partners.”

As an established innovator in the global IP phones industry, Yealink is not just concerned with enterprise-level business phones, however. Last week the company also unveiled a new entry-level IP phone, the SIP T23G, which incorporates advanced features such as a paperless design.  The T23G’s two built-in dedicated Gigabit Ethernet ports are some of the first to integrate the Gigabit-based network into entry-level IP phones, which Yealink hopes will assist end-users in switching painlessly to Gigabit Ethernet. Its cost performance enables SMB users to enjoy the same high speed and convenience of larger enterprises and—according to Yealink—will take foundation-level IP phones into the Gigabit age.

Yealink believes that it shares a similar business philosophy with PortaOne, making the interoperability between them a logical choice for both companies. The two companies hope that by allowing their solutions to work seamlessly together, IP telephony resellers and service providers all over the world will be able to achieve a higher level of professional-grade IP communication—thereby giving them the tools to improve overall business performance.

Roman Khalenkov, sales and marketing director for PortaOne, is paying close attention to the trends of business communications today, “Our cooperation with Yealink is driven by the constant demand of over 400 PortaOne customers in 80-plus countries around the world. As IP Centrex services replace traditional business telephony in the office environments, the end users require not only advanced calling features and seamless convergence already enabled by PortaSwitch but also cutting edge devices they prefer to use in their daily work.”

With its relationship with Yealink, both companies appear to be positioning themselves for success not just today, but in the future as well by setting themselves on a course for growth alongside the trends apparent in the market.
