The smartphone has radically altered the way we communicate—not just in our personal lives, but in our professional lives as well. While the thought of texting a coworker, or even a boss, would have seemed outlandish just five years ago, the proliferation of mobile technology has caused a rapid expansion in the channels of business communication we use.
In fact, this week marks the annual Mobile World Congress (News - Alert), being held in Barcelona, where enterprises from all corners of the global market are coming together to share ideas about mobile technology. It’s clear that today companies use all kinds of technologies to keep in touch, and IP phones have not been exempt from these mobile changes.
Earlier this year, IP phones innovator Yealink (News - Alert) released a new IP “smart” phone that combines the benefits of a desk phone with those of mobile devices, creating a uniquely modern experience for its users. The T48G offers users the same conveniences they expect from smartphones, such as similar call handling, Optima HD Voice, gigbit support and—perhaps most appealing—a 7-inch touchscreen that provides a rich visual experience, just as a smartphone would. As Yealink points out, the T48G “fits perfectly for the ever-changing local and international work environment. It bridges the gap and allows users to feel like they are participating in a face-to-face meeting with all parties on the call.”

For a workforce increasingly familiar and comfortable with mobile devices, the idea to design an IP desk phone with smartphone features is a wise move—and one that has not gone unnoticed. The T48G recently was named as a 2014 Internet Telephony Product of the Year Award winner, and attendees of ITEXPO (News - Alert) Miami 2014 had the opportunity to check out the phone firsthand through a company demo.
If you still haven’t had a chance to learn about this exciting new IP phone, however, don’t worry. Yealink will be holding an informational webinar with Jenne on Wednesday, March 26 at 11 a.m. EST to help introduce the phone and explain the many benefits businesses will find when adopting it as part of their IP solution. Among those presenting will be Yealink’s own Account Manager Ian Tseng and Senior Technical Engineer Ailsa Wu.
