snom Says Unified Communications Industry Buzz is at 'Critical Mass'

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

snom officials say they are enjoying the busy week at this week’s ITEXPO in Austin, Texas. If you are attending, they cordially invite you to stop by booth #721 and see what they have on offer.

“We have our full portfolio on display, including the snom ONE plus hardware-based IP PBX (News - Alert), and a full assortment of executives and characters on hand to talk,” snom officials say. It’s a great way to get to know the company and see if any of their products could help your company.

“The theme of the week for us, as we suspect it is for many, is unified communications. UC is something we have been talking about and working with for some time, but it seems as if recently the industry buzz has hit critical mass,” say company officials at the show, adding that there are many opportunities in the business community’s evolution to a unified communications infrastructure, “and we expect vendors, hosted service providers, resellers and customers alike to benefit.”

Coincidentally, just this week British research group Companies and Markets released a report predicting major growth for the hosted UC user base in North America over the next six years. Earlier this summer In-Stat (News - Alert) released a report predicting that small and home office (SoHo) spending on IP telephony could increase 83 percent between now and 2015.

Given this outlook, “you can see how UC certainly seems to be at a tipping point,” one snom official remarked.

About a month ago TMC’s (News - Alert) Stefanie Mosca wrote that aside from snom’s vast portfolio of IP phones, the company is also very proud of its flagship phone system, snom ONE plus: “The all-in-one IP telephony is available in both hardware and software (snom ONE) versions and provides users with everything they need for a complete IP communications experience.”

In fact, Mosca said, the IP phone system hardware has been so well received by customers that the company decided to revolve an informative presentation around the flexibility and configuration options of the snom ONE plus. In late August they presented a webinar titled “Explore the Flexibility of snom ONE plus IP PBX Configuration Options for Any Business Environment.”
