Snom University Hitting the Road, Announces Tour Dates

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Snom University has announced a series of North American dates, including two-day workshops in Massachusetts and Texas.

Snom University is a training and certification program consisting of webinars, online courses, and face-to-face classroom training. Yes, it has all the webcasts and online courses for the new and updated material for previously certified VARs, but as company officials point out, the classroom training program is “the flagship forum of snom University and the only way to become a Certified Value Added Reseller for snom products.”

Successful individual participants will also be officially certified as “snom Certified Engineers.”

Check the link above for the exact details, but generally speaking, the US will host four, two-day sessions in the coming months -- Boston on April 20-21, Austin on April 28-29 (From Boston to Austin... there’s a bad country music song in there somewhere...), back to Beantown for May 18-19 and back to Texas for a June 20-23 stand in Dallas.

To register for a training session go to the snom registration page. There aren’t exactly formal prerequisites for the program, but participants are expected to have “an in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, SIP, VoIP and telecommunication technologies, and it is preferable for candidates to have a basic knowledge of snom products,” company officials say.

A couple weeks ago TMC’s Stefanie Mosca wrote that snom “has been having a busy 2011 so far, showcasing its phones at shows like ITEXPO (News - Alert), planning to bring back its VARs Roadshow and offering a webinar on its popular snom ONE PBX.

TMCnet had the opportunity to catch up with COO, Mike Storella (News - Alert) at the recent COMPTEL in Las Vegas, to talk about all that’s been happening with the IP phone provider in the past couple of months.

In February snom made two major announcements regarding two products the company showcased at COMPTEL (News - Alert) on the exhibit hall floor. The first announcement was news that the snom 821, has been tested and approved by Microsoft for interoperability with Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) 2007 R2.

The IP phone is also further being tested for use with Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync 2010. This recognition represents the second snom desktop phone to be qualified through the Compatible Devices Program.
