By Greg Galitzine, Group Editorial Director
Voiceroute (News - Alert) recently announced that snom’s 300 series of open standard SIP
telephones have been certified by Voiceroute for usage with Druid Enterprise Communications Server (ECS), a SIP-based Unified Communications software appliance that supports Asterisk (News - Alert) Open Source Telephony hardware.
Resellers and Interconnects can now choose to use snom IP
phones when deploying Voiceroute’s Druid ECS as part of an overall open source-based enterprise IP desktop and voice messaging solution.
Snom develops and IP phones and related equipment based on the SIP (Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert)) standard. Among the features offered by snom’s IP Phone family is plug and play integration and universal compatibility with any SIP-based telephony platform.
Druid ECS v4.0 now supports plug and play VLAN provisioning of snom’s 300 series IP phones. In addition, Druid ECS allows auto-provisioning of Shared Line Appearances on the 300 series. This allows channel partners to offer both high-end IP telephony and traditional key phone features with all the benefits of open source telephony. End users can log into the Druid Web portal to check voicemail and set a variety of system preferences.
Druid ECS features an AJAX Web interface to simplify system deployments, and company officials say that the solution will also feature an phone application API
based on XML, which would enable VoIP resellers to create and run industry vertical specific applications on phones that support XML browsers, such as snom’s 360 or 370 IP phones.
“Druid Enterprise Communications (News - Alert) server together with snom’s 300 series of advanced open standard SIP phones will allow our telecom interconnect and IT VARs channels to easily deploy high end enterprise IP telephony solutions for the end enterprise telephony market “ said Ming Yong, Chief Executive Officer for Voiceroute.
