IP Phone Improv Puts snom m9 in the Limelight

By Jaclyn Allard, TMCnet Web Editor

The Berlin improvisation par excellence theatre ensemble, The Gorillas, has brought its improv work to the world of IP Phones. As recently posted on the IP Phone System provider, snom’s, blog and viewed by close to 200 YouTube (News - Alert) viewers, these improvisational artists recently featured snom’s m9 technical datasheet in a Jazz Piano performance.

The Gorillas ensemble is comprised of ten actors and two musicians, performing improv theatrics since 1997. Jazz theatre has become a common undertaking of the ensemble as every Tuesday in the Kunstfabrik Schlot Jazz Club it’s time for “Gurke oder Banane.” In this show three directors let their actors act and sing in competition with each other.

Datasheets accompanied by the melodic tinkling of piano keys is sure to catch consumers in a new and innovative way. Therefore, snom celebrates the Gorillas’ improvisation theatre as they spread the word to audiences about the next generation DECT (News - Alert) handheld, which provides the convenience of wireless communication along with the excellent speech quality. The snom m9 can be integrated into several SIP-based IP-PBXs, supporting four concurrent calls and connecting up to nine handsets. Some of the other features presented on stage and available with the purchase of the snom m9 are:

  • Interference-free telephony
  • 100+ hours standby time
  • High interoperability
  • Voice encryption
  • Security (TLS, SRTP, preinstalled X.509 certificate)
  • Colour Picture Caller-ID

Recently in TMC (News - Alert) news, to get an idea of what the company has been up to and what to expect in 2011, TMCnet’s Rich Tehrani sat down with Mike Storella (News - Alert), director of business development for snom. Storella noted that 2010 has been an exciting year for the company as they have launched a lot of new products. One very successful line has been the snom ONE suite and Storella brought along a few products sets to share.
