Sonetel Launches Free Global PBX System

By Erin Monda, TMCnet Contributor

Sonetel, provider of a new phone system based out of Stockholm Sweden, has announced the launch of its all new, free, global PBX (News - Alert) phone system.  The free phone system is available to small and medium-sized companies worldwide from operation centers in Europe, Asia and USA.

The PBX phone system is a scalable, free phone and PBX (News - Alert) service that can be connected to any phone company worldwide by the customer. The service provides unlimited usage, unlimited users and extensions and is easy to use.  Sonetel has development centers in India and data centers in California and Amsterdam but it wasn’t until recently that they made their worldwide phone service available.

Henrik Thomé, CEO of Sonetel and a serial entrepreneur with more than 20 years experience from the Telecom/Internet business said, “Our aim is to attract millions of users over time. The absolute majority of them will only use our free service. To succeed, our free service must be very easy-to-use, reliable, and deliver all the functionality a small company needs.”

Sonetel’s free phone service provides customers with a cost-saving incentive that allows them to stay with their current phone company with the benefits of gaining Sonetel’s improved customer service and staff availability.

Through the access of a free administrative tool provided with the phone service, users can track their own information, contacts, history and settings. Other phones can also be connected using the third party software available for iPhone (News - Alert), Android, Symbian, Mac and Linux phones. Users are also able to use desktop phones with the free system as such an integration is in progress with a few major manufacturers, an opportunity that will only be made easier for users down the road.

All calls through the phone system are free – including calls to and from other SIPbased phone services. Other free functions include chat, call recording and presence. The phone system is activated instantly when you sign up and you get a free phone number to play with.

Sonetel’s revenues come from customers that choose to use Sonetel’s add on services. Currently these include phone numbers and cheap calls to mobile phones and landlines worldwide.

“We designed the service to be truly global, seeing 80 percent of our customers coming from Asia or Africa tells us that we are on the right track,” Thomé added.

Sonetel also plans to add an auto attendant soon along with other additional functions all at no extra cost.
