Novus, a legacy and IP voice and data communications technology and products distributor in North America, announced it has been selected as Preferred Provider for the snom UC portfolio of desktop phones by Chinook Communications.

Chinook, a provider of unified communications and collaboration services, offers Total Connect service that empowers SMBs with unified communications capabilities including presence, instant messaging, audio, video and Web conferencing, desktop sharing and whiteboarding, and an integrated VoIP phone service.

Total Connect, according to Chinook, is the first ever production release of the Microsoft (News - Alert)-supported Lync Server 2012 Multitenant Pack for Partner Hosting.

Under the terms of the agreement, Novus will supply the complete family of snom IP phone systems  for Total Connect. snom UC portfolio of phones are qualified and optimized for Microsoft Lync and support all the features of hosted Lync.

The snom 821, 370, and 300 UC editions have been tested and certified interoperable with Microsoft Lync Server 2010.

Snom’s IP phone systems are based on open standards for enterprise communications. snom phones can also be used with compatible IP-PBX (News - Alert) technology that supports  Session Initiation Protocol (SIP).

Through Novus, resellers will be able to offer a future-proof solution that delivers high-value IP phone systems and protects customer investments over time while gaining the economic advantages of secure hosted Lync services.

The partnership includes marketing and sales support for Chinook's Total Connect with the snom phones.
