snom and GSMK CryptoPhone Partner To Launch High-Security Desktop IP Phone Systems

By Tracey E. Schelmetic, TMCnet Contributor

IP Phone (News - Alert) Systems and communications provider snom technology has announced a new partnership with mobile voice and message security company GSMK CryptoPhone. Together, the companies will launch the upcoming snom 870 CryptoPhone, a secure desktop phone designed for organizations that require a high level of security, such as high-technology companies and governmental agencies.

Through the partnership, the snom 870 CryptoPhone combines snom's VoIP telephony hardware and software with GSMK's voice and message encryption firmware.

The partnership between the two companies, snom and GSMK CryptoPhone, has covered research and development, marketing and sales strategy, and product support. The snom 870 CryptoPhone is the first product to result from the partnership and is fully compatible with all GSMK CryptoPhone IP mobile, satellite and fixed-line encryption products, allowing secure end-to-end encrypted calls across network borders.

The CryptoPhone is a universal, easy-to-use IP-based desktop phone that allows secure end-to-end encrypted calls. Users are protected by military grade security and can communicate over any IP network including fixed-line and satellite, ensuring they are safeguarded against the threat of malicious eavesdroppers,” said Bjoern Rupp, CEO of GSMK CryptoPhone.

Dr. Michael Knieling (News - Alert), executive vice president of Marketing and Sales for snom technology AG agreed, adding, “Our highly interoperable, very functional desktop phones marry well with GSMK's military level encryption to deliver seamless unified communications to corporations, without compromising sensitive information.”

The CryptoPhone's hardware is based on snom's 870 desktop phone, which offers users a large, full-color, touch-screen display and an intuitive, easy-to-use interface. The addition of GSMK's security and encryption technology will make the snom 870 CryptoPhone a full-function desktop phone that meets the stringent security needs for high security businesses, organizations and government agencies around the world.

With phone fraudsters increasingly trying to access confidential data by listening in on communication over the phone, this solution will help businesses and governments neutralize outsider threats by providing 360 degree security,” noted Rupp.

GSMK CryptoPhone and snom have announced that the snom 870 CryptoPhone is just the first of a series of other products that will be launched at a future date.
