Lots of cool gear from manufacturers in China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries have made it overseas to win the hearts (and contracts) of U.S. enterprises.

 

And Xiamen, China-based IP phone maker Yealink (News - Alert) hopes to do the same this winter, when it hits Miami Beach for TMCnet’s annual ITEXPO East, held Jan. 20-22.

 

Though Yealink is no newcomer to ITEXPO (News - Alert) (the company made its debut in Los Angeles, at ITEXPO West, in September), one of the first big shows of the 2010 will bring a new product for attendees to check out and play with: the VP-2009 IP Video Phone. Just stop by Booth #407.

 

Unveiled in November, the latest model to join the roster of VoIP phones put out by Yealink allows consumers and small- to medium-size businesses to harness the power and cost-effectiveness of Voice-Video-over-Internet-Protocol to make free video calls worldwide.

 

The seven-inch touchscreen format is sleek and gives users an easy launching pad to make quick video calls from their work spaces. With the video interface, employers can remain in visual contact with the employees in remote office locations.

 

“Yealink VP-2009 allows people easily and economically stay in close face-to-face contact with family and friends,” said David Chen, president of Yealink. “But while one can see the many benefits of the multi-video phone, the phone’s price is the key point in the availability for common users. Yealink VP-2009 brings an affordable visual communication, and can compete well with other manufacturers.”

 

The second EXPO could make Yealink a two-time winner.

 

In September, Yealink took home one of ITEXPO West’s coveted “Best of Show” awards for its 2009 line of enterprise IP phones – and the VP-2009 hadn’t even been released yet. But with the increasing importance of video to the enterprise and consumer markets, this new gadget could have a big advantage.

 

Stone Lu, vice president of Yealink, called the first award “encouraging.”
