Phonebooth, a division of Bandwidth, has selected Simplicity Sofas, a high point, N.C.-based furniture manufacturer, as the grand prize winner of the 2012 SMB Innovator Awards.
According to the company, Simplicity Sofas will receive $20,000 to assist in funding its business, as well as will help add resources and support its further growth and development. Additionally, after receiving a grand total of 337 votes, the Humane Society of Williamson County was voted the 2012 People’s Choice Award winner.
Simplicity Sofas obtained the highest weighted score total for coming up with innovative manufacturing processes, which have assisted the development of businesses suffering from the recession, and they have upheld exceptional customer service.
Other companies who snagged this award include BRD Motorcycles, Sweeps, Community Technology Alliance, Green Planet Catering, Elance, Humane Society of Williamson and County DaisyBill.
Simply put, Simplicity Sofas is a company that designs everything it makes. For multi-functional and ready-to-assemble upholstered furniture, co-inventors Glenn Laughlin and Jeff Frank share five patents (and another one pending).
“Congratulations to Simplicity Sofas for winning the SMB Innovator Awards grand prize and to Humane Society of Williamson County for being voted the People’s Choice winner,” said Jim Mulcahy, EVP and general manager of Phonebooth in a statement. “The creativity and innovation exhibited by this year’s award nominees made the decision process extremely challenging. We applaud the great work being accomplished by all SMBs that entered the contest and thank our judges and public voters who helped make the competition a tremendous success.”
