Sphere Communications' Todd Landry to Speak at IP-PBX Industry Event

By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Senior Editor

IP-PBX company Sphere Communications (News - Alert) announced Friday that its senior vice president, Todd Landry, will be speaking at an upcoming industry event on the topic of IP telephony and service oriented architecture (SOA).

Landry will be at the Software Business Transformation Summit being put on next week (June 5 and 6, in San Francisco) by The 451 Group, a technology industry analyst firm.

At the summit, a variety of industry experts—including application development executives, ISVs and software infrastructure vendors—will discuss key trends in the enterprise IP telephony space. Among the topics of discussion are technology trends and opportunities currently shaping business market.

Landry will speak about why enterprise SOA is important to the way in which IP telephony, IP-PBXs and unified communications is transforming the business world. Other industry experts will join Landry to discuss opportunities SOA presents.

“Service Oriented Communications is critical for enterprises that are thinking about how communications are part of their business processes,” Landry said in a statement. “People-to-people collaboration is crucial to business decision making – it must be considered in the business process and as part of SOA planning.”

Sphere is taking a market-leading approach with its Sphericall IP-PBX (News - Alert) which includes SOA and unified communications capabilities, delivered using a distributed software architecture. The solution is designed and marketed to align with new enterprise business models.

Accessing the services built into the Sphericall software is now quite easy for developers, using tools they’re familiar with—and therefore smoothing the path for adding communications functions to business applications. Likewise, ISV’s and software integrators have opportunities to create verticalized and purpose-built communications solutions. Developers no longer have to become experts in telecom protocols or proprietary APIs to reap the rewards of offering robust and customized communications applications.

Sphere’s software developers kit (SDK) provides Web Service Definition Language files, sample applications complete with source code, and an IP-PBX simulator with Web Services developers can test against. Visit www.spherecom.com/sphericall_web_services.php for more about the SDK.
