Lincolnshire, IL and Portland, OR [Oct. 9, 2006] – Sphere Communications (News - Alert) and PacStar announced that they will demonstrate the PacStar 5500 military-grade mobile emergency communications system at TMC’s INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO West 2006 in San Diego, Calif., Oct. 11-13. The PacStar 5500/3120 Interoperable Emergency Communications solution, built upon the SphereCSE Communications Services Engine, is a communications system that is battlefield proven and certified to military standards.

The PacStar 5500 includes mobile voice and data wireless LAN, streaming video and digital PBX (News - Alert) capabilities all within an encrypted environment.  Designed for military forward-operating bases and civilian emergency communications, the PacStar 5500 enables early responders to achieve continuity of operations, command and control, and situational awareness throughout infrastructure-starved environments, featuring “red-button” set up within eight minutes of deployment. The PacStar 3120 Satellite Mobile Office includes a satellite modem, laptop computer, phone and VPN firewall to provide full satellite data and phone connectivity for up to three remote users. The 3120 can function alone or be networked via satellite to one or more 5500s at central command stations or to other ground-based call managers.
