Grandstream Networks (News - Alert)has announced that its entire IP video surveillance portfolio is now ONVIF compatible.

Formed by Axis (News - Alert)Communications, Bosch Security Systems and Sony Corp., ONVIF is a global and open industry forum. It's committed to standardize communication between network devices and ensure interoperability between network products for the security market.

Grandstream said that the compatibility with ONVIF for network video surveillance has been announced due to the increased focus on setting global interoperability standards for network video.

David Li (News - Alert), CEO at Grandstream Networks, said that prior to ONVIF, to ensure cross-manufacturer compatibility, a large amount of development work had to be undertaken between individual manufacturers of both software systems and cameras.

'Being ONVIF compatible speeds development and allows everyone to work to the same set of protocols,' Li said, adding that for the company, it opens up the market. In, addition, it gives SMBs/SMEs assurances that 'an investment in Grandstream provides that safety and security solutions their business seeks while being compatible with other solutions.'

Grandstream's scalable network video solutions include low light/high definition IP surveillance cameras and video encoders. Company officials said that these solutions support open SIP/VoIP standards for enterprise surveillance and remote monitoring applications.

Moreover, Grandstream's solutions comply with open standards, enabling resellers/integrators and enterprise customers to focus on meeting specific physical security applications.

Grandstream Networks is a manufacturer of IP voice/video telephony and video surveillance solutions. Earlier this year in February, the company and Brazil-based Digifort announced the completion of interoperability testing between Grandstream's complete line of video surveillance products and Digifort's new video management software.
