Rub the crystal ball of telecommunications and you'll see gadgets that integrate multiple technologies that complement one another - HD voice and video are just the beginning.
For IP multimedia phone maker Grandstream, working with Skype (News - Alert), which has more than 500 million subscribers, will help pave the way to a solid, future-proof path toward success. That's why the company saw great visions of grandeur when it announced that it passed the test for interoperability with Skype at VoiceCon in Orlando last month.
Khris Kendrick (News - Alert), Grandstream's senior director of business development, told TMCnet in a podcast interview, exactly how the interoperability testing, which was achieved on Grandstream's GXE502x IP PBX (News - Alert) and its Analog Gateways, went down. And he even hinted at a few great things to come.
"We could see that their platform - video, voice, multimedia - fit exactly what Grandstream was trying to do in the future," Kendrick told TMCnet.
What's more, Grandstream is the third VoIP vendor to test interoperable in the Skype for SIP program, following Cisco (News - Alert) and Shoretel.
"Going forward, our PBX and analog gateways, our video phones and our surveillance cameras, hopefully, in the future, will have native Skype built in," Kendrick said. "And we're even contemplating other products down the line that will be interoperable with Skype and their suite of software that they have in their Skype store.
