VoIP Supply's Crazy Tom Promotes Grandstream IP Multimedia Phones

By Stefanie Mosca, TMCnet Managing Editor

If you are familiar with VoIP Supply, worldwide provider of VoIP solutions, you may also be familiar with Crazy Tom, the company’s fictional character who educates service providers and customers alike on the latest VoIP offerings and equipment deals each week.

This week, Crazy Tom shared his latest insight into a company whose phones he has been vocal about favoring recently: Grandstream. IP multimedia phone provider, Grandstream has been at the top of Crazy Tom’s list for a number of weeks now, and he doesn’t seem to be dismissing them anytime soon.

In a recent newsletter, VoIP Supply’s crazy mascot explained why he chose this week’s deal of free shipping on Grandstream phones and what makes the company so special. This week, VoIP Supply consumers can enjoy free ground shipping on the Grandstream GXP 1405 and GXV3175.

“Like many people my holiday weekend was spent on the highway going back and forth to visit family,” Crazy Tom wrote in his recent newsletter. “I don't know if you have ever spent much time driving the highways in Ohio but from my recent outing they seem to be filled with speed traps and Waffle House restaurants. Maybe I was driving too fast and hungry and that is why I noticed them. So in honor of all the FedEx drivers this week there is Free Ground Shipping on Grandstream phones! This way they can take their time, avoid the speed traps and enjoy the Waffle House.”

The Grandstream GXP1405, a next generation small-to-medium business IP phone, boasts two lines with one SIP account, a 128x40 graphical LCD, 3 XML programmable context-sensitive softkeys, dual PoE-enabled network ports, and three-way conference. The Grandstream GXV3175 represents the future in personal IP Multimedia communication, according to Crazy Tom. The GXV3175 is a desktop multimedia phone which features a seven-inch color touch screen LCD and a 1.3MP CMOS camera.

Carrie Schmelkin, web editor at TMCnet, has developed a consistent correspondence with the VoIP expert himself and has had the chance to pick his crazy brain regarding what’s behind his deal decisions week after week.

“Crazy Tom certainly has a thing for Grandstream as evidenced last month when he offered a “Buy X Get Y Free Deal” on Grandstream phones. For example, consumers who bought three phones of the same model got the fourth for free and those that bought seven phones got the eighth one for free,” Schmelkin wrote.

Schmelkin also recently asked Crazy Tom about his affinity for Grandstream, to which he answered, “So, Carrie, you may be wondering ‘why Grandstream?’ I ask you ‘why not Grandstream?’”

“Have you not seen their GXV3175 with a seven-inch color touch screen LCD or heard their new HD phones?” he asked. “They almost have as many options of phones as there are breeds of chickens. My personal favorite from Grandstream is the Skype (News - Alert) compatible GXV3140 and my favorite breed of chicken is the Appenzeller Spitzhauben.”
