Grandstream's GXV3140 IP Multimedia Phone Honored by ITSPA Award

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Grandstream has picked up a nice industry honor, as one of its IP multimedia phones received the 2011 Best Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) award from The Internet Telephony (News - Alert) Service Providers Association.

The ITSPA named Grandstream’s GXV3140 model of multimedia VoIP phones in the award, and a special reception was held recently to announce the winners.

Grandstream was up against formidable competition as one of six finalists in the category of Best VoIP CPE, jostling with such other VoIP phones as Digium's (News - Alert) highly-regarded Switchvox system. It seems like every year there are a number of worthy entrants, as ITSPA chairman Eli Katz said, it was “another competitive awards nomination process across the industry."

Not content to rest on these laurels, Grandstream has been busy developing other lines. Earlier this month TMC reported that according to an independent review from OnSip.com, the latest Grandstream phones, four additions to their GXP series aimed at fulfilling desktop phone needs for SMBs, should interest you.

Introduced back in October of last year at ITEXPO (News - Alert) West, the GXP 2100 is Grandstream’s 4-line IP multimedia phone. As the reviewer noted, “it supports HD audio on the handset, and features a back-lit 180 x 90 LCD “that’s small but gets the job done,” the reviewer notes, adding that “if you’ve ever used an older Grandstream phone from their GXP series, then you’ll be familiar with the key setup on the 2100.”

Ease of use was a big consideration in the phone’s design. The GXP 2100 doesn’t stray too far from the other phones in the GXP line, company officials said, explaining that with four line keys and seven configurable multi-purpose keys (BLF/speed dial), the phone can handle up to 11 call appearances, more than enough for your average user. Users can configure their seven multi-purpose keys in the Grandstream device configuration web portal.
