RadiSys (News - Alert) Corp., a global provider of application-ready software and hardware platforms,
has earned top media server vendor ranking for the sixth consecutive year by market research firm, Infonetics Research (News - Alert).
Infonetics Research in its study, “Service Provider VoIP Equipment and Subscribers: Quarterly Worldwide and Regional Market Share, Size and Forecasts,” reported that RadiSys’ family of Convedia media servers captured 60 percent of the total market for fourth quarter 2009 and 57 percent overall for calendar year 2009, an eight and 10 percent gain respectively from 2008.
“For an impressive sixth year in a row, RadiSys not only continued its position as the top vendor of IP media servers, but also managed to expand its worldwide market share in 2009,” said Diane Myers, directing analyst, service provider VoIP and IMS, Infonetics Research, in a statement.
Myers said as testament of true innovation and product category leadership, RadiSys continues to be a key influencer among media server vendors, staying strong and thriving in today’s challenging market conditions.
“We are pleased to continue our leadership in the exciting media server market, expanding our overall market share, while continuing to introduce industry-first product enhancements to our customers, such as our Voice Quality Enhancement features introduced during 2009, along with our recent IMMS announcement,” said David Smith, general manager, media server business unit, RadiSys.

Officials with RadiSys said that the company’s Convedia Media Servers support a broad set of IP audio, video, speech and fax media processing features essential for next-generation telecommunications applications.
The company officials said that the RadiSys Convedia Media Server family delivers optimal performance and reliability, scalability, and a low total cost of ownership for media-intensive IP Multimedia Subsystem (News - Alert) networks and services.
These media servers enable fixed mobile convergence by delivering a shared IP media processing resource for any access network, including wireless, broadband, cable, PSTN or satellite.
