RadiSys to Demo New Solutions for Next Generation Networks at Mobile World Congress

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor

RadiSys Corp. announced that it will demonstrate its latest solutions for next-generation networks at Mobile World Congress, the world's largest mobile industry exhibition scheduled to be held from February 15-18, in Barcelona, Spain.

The company said that it will be joined by Centile, Enea and GoAhead Software, key members of its RadiSys (News - Alert) Alliance Partner Program (RAPP) at the trade event.

RadiSys will showcase its recently announced Integrated Mobile Media Server (IMMS) on its Convedia Media Servers. A new service delivery system, IMMS enhances the ability of mobile service providers to grow 3G and 4G/LTE (News - Alert) service revenues beyond flat-rate data plans, said company officials.

Moreover, IMMS delivers two-way and N-way conversational video services, and also enhance one-way streaming services, thereby shifting the point of service monetization back into the mobile service providers’ domain.

It also consolidates disparate service processing equipment into a single, carrier-class network element, reducing the overall costs for mass-market deployment of 3G and 4G/LTE mobile services, said company officials.

In collaboration with LSI Corporation and Broadweb, the company also plans to demonstrate a wire-speed Application Recognition -- or Application Identification -- application which is optimized to use LSI Tarari (News - Alert) Content Processors in the LSI booth AV64.

With Application Recognition, service providers can view the applications running on a networking infrastructure. Company officials said that this visibility allows service providers to manage traffic and bandwidth with “greater precision and granularity,” enabling content–based billing for high-utilization applications. The application will be available to Service Providers on RadiSys’ new and legacy infrastructures.

“Today’s wireless networks are being challenged to keep pace with the growing number of applications, such as streaming video and ever increasing demand for bandwidth,” said Jim Anderson, vice president and general manager for networking components division at LSI.

Together LSI, Broadweb and RadiSys are demonstrating the improvements in customer experience that can be attained through greater knowledge about network traffic and tailoring latency and bandwidth for each application, Anderson added.
